How do I write a letter asking for sponsors for a group?

I’m the President of a Twilight fan club, that dresses up like the characters. My group is planning on a party for the DVD release for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and we need sponsors. How can we get good sponsors in order to help cover the activity in a Borders: book store. Thank you for you help.

I think you should go personally to each company you want to sponsor your party in either a complete ensemble of glitter filled double stick tape over your nipples and penis and/or vagina, (like Edward) or in the nude wearing a small mexican sombrero while screaming: “Gimme yo money, cum buckets!”

Email newsletters: what info do you want?

I’ve offered to re-write a company’s email newsletter.

When you get an email newsletter, what kind of information would make you want to read it?

Sales- promotions?
Updates on the business’s activities?
The newsletter comes out every month and currently it’s basically asking members to bring in new members, unless there’s a time/location change. Zzzzzz Very little of value

Well, considering the company (a social dance club), I think your best best is something that is eye catching. Colorful graphics, font, and a few photos. As far as actual content, updates and activities for future events, introductions of new members and maybe even a section on club tunes of the month might be your best bet.

How to wirte my objective on my resume? Help!?

Im 16 and i got a job application form for working at the metro store. But i don’t know how to write my resume objective. Im not looking for a particular position anything will do for me, as long as its not lifting heavy objects.

It would help to know what the metro store is. With the reference to heavy lifting perhaps it involves stocking at a store such as Home Depot or Lowes.
At 16, I really would not expect a resume to accompany your job application. I would get most of my information about you from your pre-job activities such as playing a sport or being a member of several school clubs while still maintaining a good GPA. Volunteering in your community would also be helpful. I would ask you questions off of your application to determine job fit. Also, at 16, it is doubtful that your job could include heavy lifting. From the ages of 14-18, employers have to follow certain labor laws one of which is to prevent you from operating hazardous machinery or working in a generally hazardous area.
If you feel you need a resume with an objective to get this job, start with learning everything you can about the company. Gear your objective (job position request) toward something you are interested in and might be able to learn a useful life skill at. Most 16 year old’s objective is just to make at least minimum wage. By having a clear objective that is not just about the money, your application would stand out more. Be sure to check your spelling and grammar before submitting the resume and application.

What does it mean when one is asked to summarize author’s bias assumptions and evidence. Please be specific!

I have a research article that I am supposed to critique. I’m supposed to determine which strategies should be implemented to integrate literacy instruction across the curriculum. I’m not sure how to critically analyze a research journal article. It is an article written by Arlene L. Barry which is based on a survey given to her former students. Most of the students at the time were teaching in different content areas. This survey was used to find out the effectiveness of learning strategies taught in her course entitled “Teaching Reading in the content Area”, a mandatory course for middle and adolescent education majors. The author describes the outcome of the survey and the feedbacks she received from her students regarding the strategies that were once taught in class to those that were actually put into effect. I would appreciate any help I can get.. Thankyou so much!!

The author usually presents her story from her point of view, which can be for or against certain ideas. For example, a newspaper can give facts about the Iraq War, but they’ll add in, sometimes covertly, how they feel about the war itself. That’s called a bias, and it’s very common.

I am writing a self-evaluation paper for my internship and we have to write our strengths, weaknesses, shortcomings, and future career interests. Can someone please give me an example of shortcomings and how they differ from weakness? Thank you.

A shortcoming is the inability to reach a certain level or goal. Like you can really try hard and never really be an A student in math. You simply do not have the ability to do it as easily as someone else. Thats a shortcoming. A weakness in its simplest term is the inability to be strong. If you simply cannot resist the temptation to eat ice cream when you know its in that freezer, thats a weakness.

I want to write my own handheld RPG script?

I’m not a game designer and I’m not an artist. In time I will go to school for programming and game design. I started to write my own RPG script. The way I’ve started writing it is when a scene happens I put it in [ ] brackets and I explain what’s happening and what everything looks like. Then I write the text for the words that are said. Well basically you’d be able to understand it if you were going to make it into a game.

Game companies do not hire based on unsolicited scripts. They will throw it in the bin and not even read it. Seriously.

If you want to get the attention of an actual company, you need to either wait until they’re *advertising* for a job (Bioware does writer-calls sometimes, and their applications have specific rules about what sort of writing to submit) OR you need to write your own stuff and build up a reputation and a portfolio. If you’re the author of a successful game, they’re a lot more likely to pay attention to you.

There are tools out there for writers who aren’t so good at code/art to work with. Try RPG Maker. There’s a big community of people who will help you get started. Many people make good money selling RPG Maker games.
