Try this. Google "God". Just for fun, go to Google and type in God. Now, note the drop down menu below. This is Google, the machine the more intuitive without doubt the most popular sites that match the search term you entered.
When searching for God to enter, what is the recommended number match the search ?…. GoDaddy!
Now do not get me wrong, I am a big fan of GoDaddy, and a good customer – but I am seeking God, I did not expect to find at GoDaddy.
And yes, I know that the first three letters of GoDaddy, but this does Do you think it odd that this site is the number one slot for a God-related sites?
It is a telling commentary on life in the ultra modern technological age. As a direct search for God can lead us to a site domain, How can we be sure that all information we are seeking will lead to "good" information.
What does this have to do with the guitar? Do a Google search the term "agreement". To date, a search for "agreement" will return 5.3 million sites! Yes, it's "Million."
Is it conceivable that there are 5.3 million ways to show how an A-OK? How do we know that millions of sites that show us the "right" like an A-OK?
Have you ever heard the term "Google guitar player? This term refers to attaching the current generation of aspiring guitarists, hops around from site to site, taking pieces of YouTube videos, blog posts and free lessons – all in the assumption where they actually "learn" how to play guitar.
The problem is that while this generation of "guitar Google "learn how often fragments of songs, riffs and licks to play, they rarely have a complete grip on guitar playing techniques and concepts they are at becoming a truly accomplished guitar "player".
Those of us in the "Baby Boomer" generation have the opportunity to attend a rapidly changing world, perhaps more than any other generation in history.
We can still remember the Kennedy assassination, and a time when landing on the moon was an objective distance. We remember that the three major television, when we need the rabbit ears on our black and white televisions to adapt. Returning to our telephones had rotary dials and were joined by son.
We can almost follow our journey into the information age medium by which we listened to our music. In 60 years we have had records and listened to scratchy transistor radio listening to AM stations. Since the 70s, we have seen the attack on 8-track tapes. Then cassettes returned and dominated, to be beaten by CD. Now the momentum of MP3 and iPod downloads sending the CD's slow path of dinosaurs.
The methods of teaching guitar in our generation were very different at that time also. In the 70s, when I picked up a guitar, there was no Internet, no video tutorials, TAB were not in use, no guitar animated graphics, an on-line tuners, and no DVD.
We basically had two choices. Lessons learned from an instructor private, or learn to play guitar himself. Most of us later.
When you teach the guitar Play a bent wheel, putting carefully the needle on a vinyl record to hear a passage, then, lifting the needle and try to understand how to play what you hear. Then repeat the process – over and over and over – until you can play the song, or until the case was dropped beyond recognition.
Using this method we have learned licks of Clapton, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beck and Santana – and we achieved by focusing intense guitar players' on one thing at a time. We had no choice, no options and no distractions.
Although are many advantages to the information age today. But how much information is "too", and when you have the line "information overload", which could result in the brain consumes no real information?
The "Today guitarist Google" – As you feel overwhelmed, if you tried to learn guitar by jumping over the net, if you feel frustrated by the lack of progress – There is one word you need to write bold band on the wall … FOCUS.
It's really the main difference between the "old school "method of learning the guitar and the new. The enormous amount of information at hand is the ability to "concentrate on one thing certain for some time, a major challenge.
If you really desire an accomplished guitarist, choose your path and stick them. Whether a program on online education, a home study course DVD, books or music Private instruction – spend all your time and energy to focus on that one way of acting.
Expand ability to "focus with tunnel vision, blind to the rest of the digital world – brings you in some way a" Google-guitar player " a "real" guitar player!
